I began volunteering for ride on for two reasons. First, Lindsey Shaffer introduced me to it and asked me to volunteer with her. Second, I have been on the wrong end of a DUI myself and whether people who I am driving home know it or not; I could be saving them either the extra cab fare back to their house, the exorbitant fee’s the state imposes on you for driving under the influence, or even their life or the life of someone else. After volunteering a few times I found that the people whom I am volunteering with are fun people and the times we’ve shared together have been amazing memories that have developed into stories we often reminisce about. Also, Who doesn’t like to bring up during a date that you volunteer for such an awesome non-profit?!

I look forward to making more great memories with all of the awesome people of ride- on.

Matt Stein and I had a great night volunteering with Ride-on Portland! Made 5 trips on our inaugural night. What a fabulous organization! I urge my PDX friends to take advantage of their services next time you’re out on a Friday or Saturday…you might even get Matt and I as your drivers!
